Our woodlands operation consists of planting, silviculture, building of extraction roads, transportation of raw products to our mill pond, sale of woodland by-products such as pulp, millwood, firewood, and veneer logs, etc.

We:

  • Plant 10,000 trees per year and have done so for over 30 years by means of the Boy Scouts and Barrett Lumber Company Employees.
  • Spend over $20,000 per year on silviculture.
  • Harvest between 2 - 3 million board feet of logs by contractors like Vernard and Debbie Lynch, Richard Countway Silviculture, and Barrett Enterprises Limited off of our own family lands and stumpage purchased from private landowners (at least 50% of our annual cut each year).
  • Exchange approximately 5,000 tons of sawmill chips for 5,000 tons of logs with Kimberly Clark each year (25% of our annual cut). We deliver the chips to Kimberly Clark, and Kimberly Clark delivers the logs to us.
  • Purchase approximately 10% of our annual cut roadside each year.
  • Purchase approximately 15% of our annual cut as standing timber which we harvest.
  • We purchase between 100 to 200 acres of timber each year as it is available in our procurement area.
